Vera Terms of Service
Last Updated: September 19, 2026
Welcome to Vera. Vera is made and operated by Animora Media ("we", "our", or "us"). These terms are the agreement between you and us for your use of the Vera mobile app and these pages. Please read them carefully.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By downloading, signing into or using Vera ("the Service"), you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to them, do not use the Service.
2. What Vera is
Vera is a swipeable feed of short, sourced cards about facts, myths and open questions. It is for general interest and information. The Service provides:
- A feed of cards in five kinds: a quick fact, a myth you call True or Myth, a multiple-choice question, a quote you check, and a "You decide" card on a question that is still disputed
- An evidence tier on every card - Confirmed, Reported, Disputed or Legend - describing how well supported the claim is
- Named sources on every card, and a dossier behind deeper topics that lists each claim with its tier, its sources, and what is still unknown
- Saving, reacting to and sharing cards, first-run topic picks, in-app search, and light and dark themes
Evidence tiers describe the strength of the sourcing behind a claim. They are our editorial judgement, not a guarantee, and they do not make a claim true.
3. Your account
- Vera requires an account. You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with an email address and password
- You must give accurate information when you create an account, and keep it accurate
- You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in secure
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, and older if the law where you live requires it
- One account per person. Accounts are not transferable, and you may not share your sign-in with anyone else
- You can delete your account at any time in the app, under Profile → Settings → Delete Account
4. Price
Vera is currently free. There is nothing to buy in the app, there are no subscriptions, and we do not collect payment details. If we add paid features later, we will publish updated terms covering price, billing, renewal and refunds before those features launch, and you will never be charged for something you did not choose.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose
- Scrape, crawl, harvest or bulk-download cards, dossiers or any other part of the Service, by any means
- Access the Service with a bot, script or other automated system, or at a volume beyond normal personal use
- Try to manipulate poll results, answer statistics or reaction counts - for example by voting through multiple or automated accounts
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, to other users' data, or to our systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, or probe it for vulnerabilities without our written permission
- Reverse engineer the app or attempt to extract its source code, except where the law says you may
- Republish, redistribute or resell Vera content commercially without our written permission
- Remove or obscure any attribution, source credit or notice in the content
6. Accuracy of the content
Cards can be wrong. We research and source every card and grade it by how strong the evidence is, but the Service:
- Does not guarantee that any claim, tier, source or dossier is accurate, complete or current
- May contain errors, out-of-date information, or claims that later evidence overturns
- Presents disputed questions as disputed rather than resolving them
- Should not be the sole basis for an important decision
If you think a card is wrong, tell us. Email support@animoramedia.com with the card and what you believe is wrong, ideally with a source. We check reports against the research behind the card and correct or remove it if it does not hold up. Always verify anything that matters against the primary sources themselves.
7. Not professional advice
The feed covers a wide range of subjects, and some cards touch on health, medicine, nutrition, money and the law. Nothing in Vera is medical, health, financial, investment, legal or other professional advice, and using Vera does not create any professional relationship between you and us. Do not use Vera to diagnose or treat a condition, to decide whether to take or stop a medicine, or to make a financial or legal decision. Speak to a qualified professional instead.
8. Intellectual property
- The Service, its content, its research writeups and its design are owned by Animora Media or its licensors
- The Vera name and logo are trademarks of Animora Media
- We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app and read its content for your own non-commercial use
- You may share individual cards using the share option built into the app. Anything more - copying, modifying, republishing or distributing our content - needs our written permission
- Quotations, facts and figures that come from other people's work remain theirs, and are credited on the card and in the dossier
9. Sources and third-party links
Cards and dossiers link out to their sources, and those links open in your device's own browser. We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy or practices, and a link is not an endorsement. Once you leave Vera, the other site's own terms and privacy policy apply to you.
10. Termination
- You may stop using Vera at any time, and delete your account in the app under Profile → Settings → Delete Account
- We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, or that we reasonably believe is being used to harm the Service or other users
- We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service, or the whole of it
- When your account ends, your right to use the Service ends with it, and your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy
- The sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law survive the end of these terms
11. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you, and nothing here limits any right you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill
- We are not liable for decisions you make based on anything you read in the Service
- Our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you have paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim
- Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited by law
13. App stores
These terms are between you and Animora Media only. Apple and Google are not parties to them and are not responsible for the Service or for support of it - support requests go to us, at the address in section 16. You also agree to the terms of the store you downloaded Vera from, and you confirm you are not in a country subject to a relevant embargo or on a prohibited-parties list. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms for the iOS app and may enforce them against you.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Vera changes. We will post the new version here and update the "Last Updated" date, and we will tell you in the app or by email about a material change - including before any paid feature launches. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, delete your account.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of any mandatory law of the country you live in, or your right to bring a claim in your local courts where the law gives you that right.
